The Critical First Step
When a raptor is injured or in distress, what happens next can make all the difference. Hawk & Spur’s raptor rescue work will build on years of hands-on experience rescuing, transporting, and renesting birds of prey throughout our community. Our goal is simple: respond safely, reduce stress to the bird, and provide the fastest possible path to appropriate professional care.
REHABILITATION
Hawk & Spur Ranch is developing specialized rehabilitation capabilities designed around the unique needs of birds of prey. Our vision includes professional medical care, species-appropriate housing, and flight conditioning spaces where recovering raptors can rebuild the strength, endurance, and skills they need for life in the wild. Every aspect of care will be guided by one goal: giving each releasable bird the best possible chance to return to the sky.
RELEASE
Back where they belong.
Release is the outcome we work toward whenever a raptor can safely return to the wild. Before release, each bird must demonstrate the health, strength, flight ability, and natural behaviors needed to survive on its own. When that moment comes, returning a raptor to the landscape where it belongs is more than the end of rehabilitation — it is the reason the work begins.

Some raptors that cannot return to the wild can serve an important role as ambassadors for their species. Through carefully designed conservation and education experiences, Hawk & Spur Ranch will give people opportunities to encounter birds of prey up close, learn about their remarkable adaptations, and better understand the landscapes they depend on.
